Who Am I?

I am Ms Photographer. I keep my name anonymous due to dangerous encounters I've experienced on the Internet (I'll tell you the sorted story later on). I'm a fashion and urbane photographer. Meaning I specialize in those fields of choice. I am quite capable of shooting weddings, events, landscaping, architectural (which I do on occasions) but I decided to just shoot those upon request only. I don't advertise that I shoot in these fields because I LOVE fashion and working with beautiful people.

Initially, when I first picked up a camera in Junior High School like most kids my age, I was just snapping around campus and sharing with friends, teachers, and anyone who had eyes, when my film was developed from the local pharmacy. I always had a camera in my hands throughout school but it wasn't until I snapped some pictures of my daughter that I was approached by a parent following a cheerleading/dance competition that my world had changed. I'll never forget the overly enthusiatic mom's words, "I'm sorry. You don't know me but your daughter is on my daughter's dance team. She showed me the pictures you took and I was wondering if you could take some pictures of my daughter the next time you're shooting yours. I'll pay you for the prints."

Hot damn.

I was at a loss for words when she said this to me but from that moment on, I started taking my photos more seriously. However, at that time, I was like most stay at home moms, I was into raising my young family, attending college part time and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. After finishing college, I landed a high paying position working for a general contractor. Everything was sweet.

But then the economy took a turn for the worst and everything was turned upside. I had to make a decision. Either get 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet or knock somone upside the head with a pistol wearing a ski mask and dark clothing. Neither one of those options was acceptable for me. I knew that I couldn't go up to someone and asked to snap their picture with a little camera that my daughter used on occasions with her friends. So I went on Craigslist and found someone selling their camera for $500 and I made an offer. I purchased my first amateur digital DSLR camera kit for $300. I thought I had it going on! Ha! After careful research I was in over my damn head.

Everything was so expensive. How much for a lens? Wow. Its 3x the cost of the camera! How the heck was going to afford ONE lens when I just lost my high paying job?
